Runie Lodge was built in 1851 as the local school and schoolhouse, it ceased being a school in 1941 and has since become a family home. We have refurbished Runie Lodge in keeping providing a luxury self-catering accommodation with spacious rooms. There are original stone features, oak beams and woodburning stoves.
Recent Italian guests were very impressed with the location and lodge and said 'the lodge is beautiful and the photgraphs do not due it justice'

Ben Mhor Coigach
The house is set in a beautiful location among pine and larch trees and the River Kanaird winds its way around the bottom of the safe enclosed garden.
Runie Lodge is situated beneath the dramatic Ben Mhor Coigach mountain ridge in the crofting community of Blughasary.
Playing in River Runie
Close by the lodge is the River Runie with many waterfalls and pools.
The old schoolteachers house is let as luxury holiday accomodation, it has its own driveway and private entrance (left side of lodge in photograph). It is fully equipped to a high standard and can comfortably accommodate 5 persons.
Runie Lodge is situated just 7 miles north of Ullapool and is ideally situated for exploring the north west coast of the Highlands and is the perfect place to return to after a day on the hills or beaches. The lodge has a tranquil, peaceful feel and is the ideal location to relax and unwind.

The Sitting Room
The sitting room is cosy with sofa and armchairs, original stonewall, oak beam, an open fire to sit by to read all the books that are on the shelves, the piano is now only a lovely old piece of furniture but for musical guests we can provide a keyboard. It's a homely place to reflect over the day and relax.
The Kitchen
The kitchen is a large light room equipped to a very high standard. Sitting on the window seat by the table and woodburning stove watching the birds feed is a great way to start the day.

The Lodge ideally suits guests who like to be in the countryside surrounded by natural beauty. Runie Lodge is situated 7 miles north of Ullapool; follow the A835 until you reach Strathkanaird, approximately 100 yards after the village sign turn left into a single track road to Blughasary. Runie Lodge is 150 yards along the track and is the first large white house.
